Learning and Evaluate Instructional Practices
The Writing Studio at Arizona State University has a grading system that took me some time to get used to but I have appreciated it since. A score of 3 means that the student meets all the requirements. Meanwhile, a score of 2 or 1 means the student met most of the requirements or no requirements respectively. Rather giving a grade in a typical way, this system allows students to gain points by demonstrating their effort to grow. Students who are working hard in the course and actively trying to improve their writing skills can do well in the class.

I have learned how to grade using this system and have found that it is important to take into account each students effort over time. Some students might start of strong but then lack effort, while others might struggle at then get better. I have noticed that staying organized with a spreadsheet of grades is helpful in such cases. Using it, I can track students' progress over time and grade them accordingly.
